DATA MANUAL · LAST REVIEWED

HOW OUR UNLISTED-SHARE DATA WORKS.

BuyUnlistedShares publishes dated, indicative research references — not live exchange quotes. The latest usable dated observation drives the displayed price; dependent figures are recalculated from that same price wherever the required source input exists.

Important limitation. Price observations may come from public unlisted-market listings or authorised administrative updates. Historical rows do not yet expose field-level source provenance in every case. Check the displayed date, company documents and an independent source before relying on a figure.

DEFINITIONS AND FORMULAS

Indicative price

newest valid dated observation

A research reference only. It can differ across sources, counterparties and time, and does not establish a price at which anyone will transact.

Indicative minimum

indicative price × displayed unit count

The unit count follows the display convention described above. It is not evidence of inventory, allocation, acceptance or an order minimum.

Market capitalisation

price × outstanding shares ÷ 1,00,00,000

Shown in INR crore and recalculated when a usable outstanding-share count exists. Otherwise an existing stored estimate may appear as a fallback; the public API labels that derivation. Different share classes or an outdated count can materially change the result.

P/E and P/B

price ÷ EPS · price ÷ book value per share

Recalculated from the displayed price when positive EPS or book value is available. Accounting periods and corporate actions can make simple comparisons misleading.

Company financials

source value + source unit + reporting period + verification date

Financial-statement amounts are labelled lakh, crore or rupees only when that unit is recorded. A page shows a warning instead of guessing when the stored unit or field-level source coverage is incomplete.

FRESHNESS AND PRICE-SERIES CLEANING

Each company page should show a price-as-of date. The public API separately labels response-generation time and data freshness. Before charting, the series drops non-positive or invalid entries, keeps the last entry for a duplicate date, sorts by date and removes only short, isolated price regimes that meet conservative outlier thresholds.

Persistent changes are retained because they may reflect a genuine corporate action or a new pricing regime. Cleaning reduces obvious corruption; it does not verify that every surviving observation is accurate or comparable.

FINANCIAL UNITS AND SOURCE COVERAGE

Company financial tables can combine statement amounts, per-share values and percentages. Statement amounts must carry an explicit stored unit — rupees, lakh or crore — while EPS remains a per-share rupee figure and margins remain percentages. The page does not infer an amount unit from the size of a number.

A verified label requires a valid amount unit, review date, source document and field-level source coverage. Partial means the unit and at least one source are recorded but some displayed fields still lack their own source reference. Not verified means the page cannot yet support a unit or source claim; check the available annual reports or another primary company filing before using the figures.

SOURCES, REVIEW AND CORRECTIONS

Company and financial fields may be compiled from issuer disclosures, regulatory or public records, and third-party public sources. Different fields can have different reporting periods. Source documents shown on a company page should be preferred over a summary, and primary documents should be checked independently.

METHODOLOGY FAQ

Are BuyUnlistedShares prices live exchange quotes?

No. Unlisted securities do not have a continuous exchange order book. The displayed figure is an indicative reference tied to the date shown, not an executable quote, offer, valuation opinion or guarantee of availability.

Which price is treated as current?

The newest valid observation in the cleaned price series is used. If no usable dated observation exists, a stored indicative value may be shown as a fallback and the absence of a price date should be treated as a limitation.

How is the indicative minimum calculated?

It is a display convention, not a transaction commitment. At prices of ₹10,000 or more it uses one share; below ₹10,000 it uses the smallest multiple of five whose indicative value reaches ₹10,000. The displayed amount is price multiplied by that unit count.

How can I report a data problem?

Use the contact page and include the company, field, source link and observation date. A correction should update the visible field, its freshness signal where applicable, and any derived values that depend on it.

Why might a financial table say its amount unit is not verified?

It means the record does not yet carry enough source metadata to support a lakh, crore or rupee label confidently. The figures remain informational and should be checked against the linked company filing before use.
