How to Buy Tata Capital Shares in 2026: It Is Listed Now, Not Unlisted

· 4 min read · Written by the BuyUnlistedShares desk. Information only, not investment advice.

Tata Capital is no longer an unlisted share. It listed on NSE and BSE in October 2025 after its IPO (price band ₹310 to ₹326), so in 2026 you buy it through any stock broker at the exchange-traded price with T+1 settlement and no lock-in. Any "Tata Capital unlisted share price" you see today is a historical figure.

Direct answer: You cannot buy Tata Capital unlisted shares in 2026, because Tata Capital is a listed company. Its IPO ran from 6 to 8 October 2025 at a price band of ₹310 to ₹326, and the shares listed on NSE and BSE on 13 October 2025. To buy Tata Capital today, place an order through any SEBI-registered stock broker at the exchange-traded price; settlement is T+1 and there is no lock-in. Any page still showing a "Tata Capital unlisted share price" is quoting a historical, pre-October-2025 figure.

Why the search still says "unlisted"

Between 2023 and mid-2025 Tata Capital was one of the most-searched unlisted names in India, and many pages written then are still ranking. Their prices, sometimes several hundred rupees above the eventual IPO band, describe a market that no longer exists. If you are comparing a figure from such a page with today's exchange price, you are comparing a dated dealer quote from before the IPO with a live traded price after it; the two are not the same instrument in any practical sense.

How to buy Tata Capital shares in 2026, step by step

  1. Use an existing demat and trading account with any SEBI-registered broker. If you only have a demat account (for example one opened to hold unlisted shares), add a trading account with the same broker or open one elsewhere; the demat comparison page lists brokers and their charges.
  2. Search the scrip on NSE or BSE in your broker's app and check the live price, the day's range and the volume.
  3. Place a limit or market order. The exchange matches it; you see the fill in seconds.
  4. Settlement is T+1. The shares are credited to your demat the next working day. There is no delivery instruction, no counterparty risk and no lock-in.

What this means if you held Tata Capital before the IPO

If you bought Tata Capital over the counter before October 2025, your shares were pre-issue capital and were locked in for six months from the IPO allotment date under Regulation 17 of the SEBI ICDR Regulations, 2018. That period is over. You can sell on the exchange through your broker at any time; your capital-gains holding period runs from your original purchase date, not from the listing, so keep the off-market transfer record and the payment proof for the tax return.

Looking for a Tata group name that is still unlisted?

The BuyUnlistedShares screener shows every company the desk tracks with a dated indicative price; use the search box to check whether a particular group company is on it. The desk does not list a company just because it is searched for: a name appears only when there is a dated price and a settlement route. The IPO calendar lists filed and upcoming issues, including DRHP-stage companies, so you can see which large names are on their way to listing.
